Hope that you fall in love and it hurts so bad… The only way you can know is give it all you have!!

Artist: One Republic

Song: I Lived

Album: Native (2013)

I love music. I love a lot of bands and a lot of songs… but some people, some people I just very truly, deeply admire. One of those people is Ryan Tedder. I don’t know how or why, but I just feel like he’s a genuinely good man, on top of that he is a genius. All the work One Republic has done has been nothing short of ridiculously amazing. They have also made a point of coming out with unique music videos that do not resort to glamor to be a success, which brings me to why I just absolutely had to post this blog right away.

Native is an amazing album. I have had it on my iPod since it came out and it’s full of one hit after the other. Call me stupid, but I had not up till this point seen the music video for I Lived. I love the song, absolutely belt it out every time I hear it, and the film maker in me had a whole music video planned for it (which I play out in my mind along with the song every time ofcourse). So today, as I was viewing Channel V after ages, and the song came on my first thought was “they stole my song, I had an amazing idea for it” and then the next minute or two brought me to tears… This music video, it’s freaking heartfelt.

Seriously, I don’t think I would be imagining my version of it anymore, this is pure and simple emotion right here. This is why I love this band. It is so good I actually had to turn the TV off, coz watching a Nicki Minaj video immediately after this seemed disrespectful and I had to come post this right away.

So if you are silly like me and haven’t yet seen the magic that is this video, do so right now… and if you have, let’s watch it again and shed a tear or two. 🙂

Happy Dark Tunes on a Rainy Day – “All the other kids with the pumped up kicks you better run, better run faster than my bullet.”

Artist: Foster the People

Song: Pumped Up Kicks

Album: Torches (2011)

Ello ello, how is it going on your end of the world? I gotta tell you it is pretty good over here today, in the usual gloomy sort of way. I was woken up early this morning today by a lovely surprise by mother nature… RAIN! it was long overdue and I absolutely love loveeeeee rain! it is sorta dark and gloomy, but then again, so am I! and it was right on time too, coz I am having one of my happy dark phases nowadays.

Nowadays, I am making myself busy by diving into the new course books that I will soon be teaching to my class, apart from that the month of fasting continues and pretty soon we will be having Eid, which is our big holiday. Today I was actually supposed to go out for errands but of course, a rainy day in Karachi means you lock yourself in your house as the roads are flooded with water and traffic! So I just pretty much read and enjoyed the rain from the safe distance and raided my books shelves to pick out books I haven’t read yet, i dug up the fountainhead and poetry by Pablo Neruda.

If you think that is not enough happy doom and gloom yet, on top of it all channel V showed a countdown today of something they referred to as Happy Dark Tunes…. this song was number 1 on their list and has been been playing in my head since then. The lyrics, mind you, are more twisted dark than my happy dark, but I love it! absolutely love it! and also happy dark tunes is my new term for the kind of music I like/my mood/my personality… basically, Ima own it!

That is pretty much all that is going on in my little world…. I hope you all love this song… it surely makes my dark little heart skip a beat! and have a great day ahead! 😀
