Song: I Lived
Album: Native (2013)
I love music. I love a lot of bands and a lot of songs… but some people, some people I just very truly, deeply admire. One of those people is Ryan Tedder. I don’t know how or why, but I just feel like he’s a genuinely good man, on top of that he is a genius. All the work One Republic has done has been nothing short of ridiculously amazing. They have also made a point of coming out with unique music videos that do not resort to glamor to be a success, which brings me to why I just absolutely had to post this blog right away.
Native is an amazing album. I have had it on my iPod since it came out and it’s full of one hit after the other. Call me stupid, but I had not up till this point seen the music video for I Lived. I love the song, absolutely belt it out every time I hear it, and the film maker in me had a whole music video planned for it (which I play out in my mind along with the song every time ofcourse). So today, as I was viewing Channel V after ages, and the song came on my first thought was “they stole my song, I had an amazing idea for it” and then the next minute or two brought me to tears… This music video, it’s freaking heartfelt.
Seriously, I don’t think I would be imagining my version of it anymore, this is pure and simple emotion right here. This is why I love this band. It is so good I actually had to turn the TV off, coz watching a Nicki Minaj video immediately after this seemed disrespectful and I had to come post this right away.
So if you are silly like me and haven’t yet seen the magic that is this video, do so right now… and if you have, let’s watch it again and shed a tear or two. 🙂
