“Then I heard your heart beating, you were in the darkness too…So I stayed in the darkness with you!”

Artist: Florence + the machine

Song: Cosmic Love

Album: Lungs (2009)

I am an extremely weird person. Sometime, scratch that, every time something becomes an over night sensation and all anyone can talk about, I immediately develop an aversion to it… and then a few years later I come across that thing on my own and kick myself in the head for not discovering it earlier… case in point – florence + the machine.

I could hear everyone going crazy over them and I developed this bitterness towards them, as something that was merely a passing trend and 4 years after their first album, I come across a few of their songs and I am HOOKED!! This woman has an insanely powerful voice… it seems almost heavenly, like otherworldly… in a good way!

I am a convert, and though it took me a while, just like all the other things previously… I am glad I discovered them in my own good time! and I am quickly browsing through all their music even as I put this blog up! so anywhere you are in the world today… yes, go ahead and judge, call me a bad word if you feel like it for not having the good sense of liking this amazing band before… and listen to this and smile!! 😀

PS. feel free to point out any good songs of this band I might be missing out on!

“I will swallow my pride. You’re the one that I love, and I’m saying goodbye!”

Artist: A Great Big World ft. Christina Aguilera

Song: Say Something

This is why I turn to music during times of stress, loneliness, depression and confusion …. every now and then you come across something that is so profound and beautiful and magnificent that it is nothing short of a divine miracle, something to be admired as a thing of sheer magic! May sound like a tall order for a song, but I have felt nothing but goosebumps on my skin since this morning when I was first introduced to A Great Big World (Thank you The Voice) and their song Say Something. I loved Christina before but I had kind of started missing her pure big voice, and today she made me love her again, not by belting out… but by showing me an amazing control and a soft voice.

I think anyone can relate to this song, giving up on someone they loved very deeply once… someone they would’ve done anything for. It’s a  simple song with simple lyrics… but the amazing voices of the lead singer and Christina, and the haunting quality of the music has made me an immediate fan and so today no stories of my life… only pure admiration of this wonderful, beautiful song which I have a feeling is going to be on repeat on my iPod for some time!

I’m putting up the live performance done on the voice, which if you know me and my aversion to live performances, is really saying something… I hope you will be just as passionate about this song as I am! Have a good day wherever you are in the world! ❤
